Project Overview

Ok, so our house like I said before was built in 1940. It's a large two story traditional home with aprox 1900 square feet. The previous owner had moved out about a year prior to us buying the house, so the house sat empty without much upkeep. The outside landscaping was a disaster and overgrown and the outdoor pool was practically ruined when we moved in. The inside wasn't in too bad of shape just in some need of some major cleaning and updating.
Layout: Downstairs there's a foyer, living room, family room, dining room, bathroom, mud room and kitchen. Upstairs four bedrooms and one very tiny small bathroom. Outside, our house sits on a large corner lot, large front porch, two stall garage, in ground pool with large surrounding patio, there's also a small utility shed that we have now converted into a dog house for our large four legged member of the family, Mac.
I would post pics but I've decided to wait and post pics of our house as I work on each project, so don't worry some pics will be coming soon!!!

The Project Begins

Well here I go, my husband and I purchased our first home a little over a year ago. But according to my husband "We didn't buy a house...we bought a project!" Needless to say he's right...ps: if you know my husband don't tell him I said that. ;)
Anyways we bought a house that was built in 1940 and has slightly been updated from time and time again, but is in a huge need of an entire makeover. Our house has good bones but needs lots of TLC to say the least. However with budget constraints we are doing the makeover ourselves; actually I take that comment back I am doing the makeover with a little help here and there from the hubby.
So as I take on our house I decided to start a blog about it, to document all the work that goes into our old house and for others to hopefully learn from. A year ago I never would have thought of doing this but this past summer I became an avid home blog reader; searching for ideas and tips on home improvement and decorating projects. So I'm hoping the projects that I take on and tackle can become inspiration for other homeowners out there.
More than likely this blog will be a slow process much like our home renovation considering I have a full time and part time job. My husband also works full time, is a high school football coach and is a MMA fighter in his spare time. And did I mention we have a 2 year old daughter.
So to sum it all up we are a busy family with a busy schedule attempting to give our house a makeover all while making it ours.
